The Cristo Rey in the movie "Daang Hari"
The movie Daang Hari is one of the few FPJ movies taken here in the province of Batangas. Daang Hari is well remembered by the people of Cuenca, elders use to say they became part of the productions as extras. Scenes like processions, gatherings and holy mass were recalled by the extras living nowadays. FPJ is said to have donated a sum of money for the restoration of the church.
The image in full regalia in Don Manolo's Mansion
The story of Daang Hari set post war era circled on a stolen image of Christ the King. Gabriel (Fernando Poe Jr), a former guerilla, soon became a rescuer of the image upon the death of his father in the hands of the Don Manolo's men. The vigilance of the stolen Cristo Rey soon lured Buwitre and took the image. Upon Gabriel's search he discovered the image and secured it in the woods where he fought with Buwitre and his men. The final match occurred with Major Gonzalgo and Gabriel when suddenly the a light blinds Gonzalgo. Gabriel then took advantage and shoots, Gonzalgo falls and dies before taking an aim. The image is brought back to the church, A procession ends the movie showing the people of Daang Hari.
