Heritage Issue: Bauan

The Municipio of Bauan, with its Art Deco facade

Lately I attended the meeting concerning the creation of the Heritage Conservation Society of Batangas. In our meeting we deal issues concerning the Municipio, the Gabaldon School  in Bauan and the Plaza of San Jose Batangas. Here the problems are getting big. The Municipio of Bauan is scheduled to be demolish in October 18, 2011,while the Gabaldon is still under going some meetings if the building can be also demolish. The plaza on San Jose on the other hand has its man power to prevent the construction of a new Municipio.

The Municipio feature an Art Deco facade, probably the one of the only remaining municipal building with this style. The Gabladon on the other hand stand in an elevated ground also with a beautiful facade.

I hope that the government officials and the people of Bauan rethink first before destroying their beautiful Municipio and the School.
